Worm factory.

Last night I shredded several folders of old papers. The sort of stuff that would only confuse the important paperwork that one needs to keep. It was also time to make three new trays for the worm factory.
I add some coir coconut fibre to some potting mix and then add shredded white paper ( no colored paper), mix it all up and this makes the worm bedding. Then put the new trays on top of the other three factories and gradually the worms will move up to the next level. Today's breakfast was a mix of bean pods and corn meal...yum. The worm bins stay odor free with no fruit flies as long as the carbon and nitrogen balance is maintained. A much greater ratio of carbon, bown leaf and paper matter is required to keep the worms really happy and comfortable.
