Leaving

It was a beautiful bright morning so I walked from the hotel to MK station - about 3 miles, so good preparation for five hours or so sat in the train. There were slight delays as it passed through the Lake District, due to damaged signals; there was little sign of standing flood water, but all of the rivers and streams were raging, muddy torrents. I thought of poor trevorearthy and family as we passed through. It was very good to get home to a warm, dry flat with Mr H cooking his famous lamb balls for tea.

When I arrived at MKC I noticed an ex-rat lying beside the bike shed. I don't know if he'd been poisoned before he was squashed. Somehow put me in mind of sinking ships....
