Christmas Tree Shopping
I can't believe it's a year since the last time we picked up the Little Misses' Christmas tree.
I showed last year's photo to Miss E and she insisted on wearing on the exact same outfit!
Seeing her in the dress and looking at last year's photo made my heart sink a bit - it's exactly the same size on her. It was a photo of Miss L in a bathrobe that showed she hadn't grown for a year that first alerted us to her Coeliac Disease.
Miss E has blood tests booked for Friday. Lack of growth and stomach pains. It's a bit familiar.
I'm going round in circles worrying that she's got it and the impact it will have, and then worrying that it's something else; something worse that will have me wishing it was Coeliac Disease......
Anyway.
We went to Ikea at lunchtime and ate meatballs, chips, salad and childrens' snacks before picking up the tree.
Choosing the tree was a bit fraught. Both Miss E and Miss L picked one and insisted theirs was the perfect choice. As so often happens Miss E won - hers was pretty much the biggest tree in the whole place which appealed to her and Mr K. It was a beast!! I knew it was too big but it was all getting a bit stressful so we persuaded Miss L to let Miss E choose this year and she could choose next year. Miss L is so lovely that despite a few tears she agreed.
They spent the rest of the day arguing about the aesthetics of decorating a Christmas tree.
Miss L favoured a haphazard approach: chuck as much as possible on it, preferably in the same place!
Miss E wanted everything to be neat and spaced and not crowded.
So that all ended in tears too.
Miss E ended up in her room decorating her chair.
Oh the sight of her little chair with a few paper chains round it and a couple of ornaments hanging off it. She breaks my heart sometimes!!
Eventually we all decorated my tree the tree in the living room. I don't normally let them within fifty feet of touching my tree that one but I was determined that our decorating day was going to be a complete depressing failure!
Then we sorted out theirs - everything went on it which is what Miss L wanted - but it was all nicely spaced out which is what Miss E wanted - so all was well.
