Reminiscences stirred by a good book
I'm currently reading Elvis Costello's autobiography and I'm really enjoying it. In the late 70s and early 80s I was massive fan. I bought the book on Kindle but I must confess I wasn't really expecting it to be great. I find that autobiographies are often disappointing and I thought that it's been so long since I was into Elvis Costello that I would find it a bit dry.
I couldn't be more wrong. The book is written in a very engaging style and doesn't just follow a chronological account of his life. It jumps backwards and forwards all over the place and in almost every chapter there are references or events that I can relate to.
It's even encouraged me to download some of the old albums on Spotify. I was listening to this one on the tube on the way home today and even though it's almost 40 years old I knew almost every word of every song!
