A 'Special Birthday' Cake
All ready for tomorrow when this young lady celebrates her 18th birthday. We will be travelling down to Hoddesdon in the morning, to be with both sides of our family to celebrate her special day.
I've had a day of many miles today. I drove in to work and parked at Anglia Square, walking the 15 minutes to the office. This meant when I left the office at 12 I could get to the car quickly and get on my way to Cambridge. I did it in pretty good time, picking Mollie up at 1.40 & arriving back home at 3.40. The cake decoration & filling started immediately, plus the cooking in shifts of 70 odd vol au vents and a small gammon after that. We will have a car full of food tomorrow! Just hope we don't forget anything!
Going back to Mollie. 18 years ago today I'd been in hospital 2 days already, waiting for my second baby to put in an appearance. She was by that time 11 days late and in no hurry. After a very long 12th day, and after an induced labour and an epidural, she was eventually dragged out at 9.13pm. Bruised, swollen & cut on her face where the forceps had gripped her, but she was beautiful to me. She has turned out to be a truly inspirational, positive, and loving, supportive, patient & kind person. Everyone loves her, but not us much as we do. A beautiful girl, now a beautiful young lady, inside and out.
