Solar cooking

Today's hike began at the small archaeological site of Dainzu, crossed a flat agricultural valley, and ended in the town of Tlacochahuaya. This man and his wife have built a small business making gourmet food products with local herbs and fruit and using only solar energy. This is one of their "stoves", which was made of aluminized plastic. In the center is a pot of bean soup, bubbling merrily, cooking by the heat of the sun.
On the rooftop they have solar drying trays for fruits and herbs. I bought herbal tea, an herb/spice seasoning mix, and mustard flavored with dry chiles.
