one down, four to go.....
Standard Hill, Nottingham - the events leading up to the war between King Charles and the Parliament are far more complicated than are usually admitted. War between the parties was inevitable, and it was commenced at Nottingham on 22 August, 1642, by Charles erecting his standard in the centre of the roadway near the Castle and ever afterwards known as Standard Hill.
the countdown begins....Monday down, 4 left to go! for a Monday it wasn't bad at all. had slept solid on sunday night, all that fresh air did the trick. went to 49 first thing as Robert starting work there today for decorating - proper paper job! (and all the other bits he'll be doing!).
Interesting times in the world in general. lots going off in my line of work, and i often wonder how in the future how this period will be looked back on, the recession, the financial scandals, the tax-dodging comedians etc, etc, all very interesting....just like i wonder why King Charles went to war with the Parliament back then (i love history and am learning more now but didn't do kings and queens at school back then, more crop rotation, spinning jenny, and isambard kingdom brunel - total legend!!)
weather wise, July continues where June left off.....awfully! rain started at lunchtime as i walked back from lunch with Trace. great to catch up with her, always got great views on things.
good afternoon at work, and then off home. took this pic as i left work (Standard
Hill is near the castle and i love this mysterious entrance off the road).
Pic took and then apparently i sailed by Mrs Silver on Shakespear Street (soz!). on a mission to B&Q and Wickes, but not much success.
home and spot on piece of steak for tea.
imagining where we'll be this time next week, but also not wanting to wish time away too much, cos as soon as it's here it'll be gone...
