Cosy??
The gift we found in our hotelroom last night when returning from the Christmas do we had been to in Bruges. Now back home with the gift and I swear this is the weirdest thing I've ever had, does anyone fancy having it?
I most definitely wouldn't call it 'cosy' nor something to do with 'cocooning', though it's from a brand called Cosy & Trendy 'stylish cocooning products'. Neither DJ nor I want to try it out on the bottles of Christmas bubbly no matter how easy it may be :-)
So, a champagne sabre, as the book on table etiquette and yesterday's dinner entertainer told us, this habit started with the Cossacks and the French during the Napoleonic wars. The officers celebrated their victories with champagne , were however in a hurry and drank while still on horseback and so opened their bottles by 'sabrage'. Why they couldn't just uncork it the usual way, I have no idea ! I've added an extra rather blurry picture taken last night when we we're shown how to do this and you can see it also has a wicked point. Now, do I keep it as a photo prop or do I give it away ? It's really rather scary and sharp looking.
Thanks very much for your comments, stars and even a fave on yesterday's/last night's Bruges Blip !
