Derilect Dolly

Being in an industrial are I took a nice partially wet walk looking for a derelict blip. This is what I found in a corner of a lot.

When I first started in the industry 45 and 48 foot trailers were standard in the industry. With shipper and receivers always pushing the law twin 28 foot trailers were also very common. You used a dolly like this to connect the second trailer. You could ship much more with 56 feet of space instead of 48 feet. This lead to 53 foot trailers becoming the standard now.

Today businesses are pushing going from 80,000 pound standard to 96,000 and twin 33 foot trailers instead of 53 foot trailers. The problem is there is ZERO infrastructure to support that. Sure the highways can handle the extra weight spread out over more wheels but on any given day if you look around a major city you will find truck parked in very many unsafe on/off ramps, residential streets, etc...

These weigh 2500 to 3000 pounds and many times had to be maneuvered by hand a short distance.
