she gazes far or inwards
then - always - comes back

Although it seems like we avoided the worst in yesterday's regional elections, as the Front National didn't win in any region, the number of votes they got is telling me that Marine Le Pen could very well reach the second round of the Presidential election in 2017... Will the "republican front" that prevailed this wekeend again in the regions that were most at risk of seeing the extreme-right party win work once again, as it did in 2002 when Jacques Chirac was elected with 82% of the votes, against Jean-Marie Le Pen? I'm afraid there is such a level of disenchantment with politics that a good proportion of my countrymen and -women will want to "try something new"... even though most of Front National's programme is based on crass lies and misconceptions.

We're balancing between leaving the country and staying to resist.
