Fabricated Steel Support Beam and Bracket

I was feeling much better today, so I got a bit more work done. Shown here is my replacement for the missing window lintel. I was going to weld the end plates to the beam, but decided that as I had put a step at the front of each end plate, so that the beam could not move into the cavity, even if it was released from its mortar, this was not necessary. When I fitted this beam, I was surprised at how much the brickwork had sagged above the beam, which needed quite a bit of jacking into place.
