A surprising visitor
I finally began preparations for cooking supper at about 7pm which was later than I'd hoped. I had to drain the fresh tofu, dry it and then marinade it in dark soy sauce, whilst I prepared a stir fried mixed vegetable melange served in coconut milk over brown basmati rice.
Part of the quite complex recipe I've devised over the years involves chopped fresh ginger, sliced lemon grass and garlic. As I started browning these ingredients in olive and sesame oil I suddenly spotted this moth fluttering around the oils and sauce basket hopping from perch to perch. I had been practicing with my fujifilm camera a little earlier and knew it was easily available upstairs so turned off the gas rings and went to get it.
I quickly chased the moth around the walls and tiles to which it seemed to be attracted before it landed on the kitchen counter next to a large head of garlic bulbs. The light was quite poor and I couldn't get the flash to work accurately, so when the moth then landed on my upturned hand I took it out to the dining room and laid it on some leaves of the house plants, which I thought would be a more appropriate place for it. It flew off and up a few inches to land on this pelargonium and I tried this last shot, which was one of the better ones. Where it had been lying dormant I don't know, but Helena has been quite busy throwing a lot of things out and clearing various spaces, so perhaps it became disturbed. I hope it finds another place to hibernate before Bomble attacks it. He rather likes playing with moths, and it wouldn't end well.
