Murpy's Law again
Seven weeks in port and only fog at departure. That must be Murphy's Law. Finally, everything is intensively tested and ready for departure. Last night we tested the maximum power output with a bollard pull test and recorded a steady 150 tons. Not bad for an old lady of 26 years old. After that we were ready but the bow thrusters said no. Hours and hours troubleshooting finally resulted in a couple of fine working bow thrusters. So at 11:00 all technicians were off and we departed to sea. Destination Cabinda in Angola. Tonight we will pass Dover Strait in the dark. Ships that pass in the night, lots of ships probably.
By the way, you recognize a ship in this? It is a so-called car carrier. Designed only to transport cars from the far east to europe. Awful and ugly ships with horrendous manoeuvring characteristics. That's what they are. But like all ugly things; without any doubt very effective and cost-saving.
