The tailors

Today, we are feeling beaten by Zimbabwe. We had another trip to the tax office, where trying to explain to them that you have lived abroad and are moving here seems to be a bit like explaining quantum physics to a three year old.

When you finally speak to someone who sort-of understands, they will generally contradict what you have previously been told. Today it was that we should have shipped all our belongings before moving here and are, effectively ineligable for tax exemption, which at nearly 100% tax on a vehicle, spells trouble.

So, we consoled ourselves with a trip to our favourite coffee shop where I discovered they did an all day breakfast, delightful comfort food just when it was needed.

Just along from the coffee shop is the tailors - a tiny room in a mechanics yard, it's quite grim, they have been promising that a pair of trousers are going to be ready 'next week' for four weeks now. Today we suggested the new year as a potential date for them to be ready.
