Unfavourable Rail Conditions

I rely on the train service to get me in to Edinburgh and my work. I know "Leaves on the Line" is a standing joke about the railways and probably a euphamism for "Rab was oot on the lash last night and didn't turn up for work today", but I've not been the victim of it until last week.

Except that in today's modern world of political correctness and spin "Leaves on the line" has turned into "Unfavourable Rail Conditions". Eh?

So, here's some modern day equivalent's to some well known phrases:

"The dog ate my homework" becomes "Canine induced homework availability issue"

"I slept in" becomes "Unexpected timing device sychronisation failure"

"Traffic was bad" becomes "Sub-optimal vehicular activity"

Now I wonder what Scotrail would say was the excuse for the train turning up two days last week and yesterday with only half the number of coaches thus turning our little suburban railway into a debacle worse than the Northern Line? "Reduced Rolling Stock Operating Capacity" perhaps?

The guy at the station got it right when he said "The engine broke"...!

LOTD: Anne Madelen's portrait profile - a sense of wonder in the model - a great shot. Very 'Twiggy' :-)
