The Atomium

We made it! I gave my Mum a trip to the Christmas markets of Belgium for her birthday back in October. In the midst of the recent security scares in the country, we've spent ages debating if we should amend or even cancel our trip, but we decided to go for it.
After a smooth Eurostar journey, we arrived in Brussels, and took the metro up to our stop. We got a bit disorientated finding the hotel, so had a really quick turnaround to get the tube out to Northern Brussels to visit the Atomium! I've wanted to go here for years, and it didn't disappoint! The structure is beautiful, and the exhibits inside of Expo 58 wonderfully retro. The original features inside are just beautiful, including the amazing lifts and staircases. When we arrived back in the centre, we stood outside and ate pizza and drank gluhwein, then spent ages wandering round the pretty Christmas markets.
