Protest!
This morning I took part in a demonstration outside Shirehall in Shrewsbury.
Old Oswestry Hill Fort, a very important Iron Age hillfort and said to be "The Stonehenge of the Iron Age" and 3000 years old is under threat as a developer wants to build 117 houses on it's outskirts.
Twelve eminent academics and archaeologists wrote to the government to object, there has been a 10,000 + petition and the locals have protested before such as The Hillfort Hug in February.
This cuts no ice with Shropshire Council. We protested (peacefully) as the councillors entered the building to ratify the long term housing plan including the Hillfort development. They voted unanimously to accept the plan.
We now hope to mount a legal challenge financed by crowdfunding. The fight to save our heritage continues.
