A few hours in Cromarty
A few jobs completed today. Had to go to the Fortrose Post Office to pay the bill for the Hall hire for Brownies,a few people in front of me so a bit of a wait. I then caught the bus to Cromarty. The sun had started to come out by the time I arrived. First stop was the Gallery, so many lovely things and I managed to get a few bits that I need. A look in the pottery and then a wander down Shore Street. The lighting and sky was fantastic with a dramatic dark sky in front and the sun moving around shedding light on buildings and the rigs. I sat for ages just watching the tide and the birds and the changing light. A grey wagtail hopped around the rocks in the burn, a 'parcel' of Oystercatchers were together playing in the waves with the odd one grabbing a bit of food and the running off with it being chased by the others who piped noisily. It was so warm, no wind, in fact, it's probably one of the warmest days I've spent in Cromarty.
A quick look down the reeds loop , masses of gulls had flown in , possibly from the field I saw them in the other day. A grumpy heron was hunched up in front of the houses.
The sun was now shining brightly as I walked up the road past the Merchants houses and Huge Millers house. Lots of wonderful shadows cast on the white washed walls.
I picked up the Star wars stamp booklet from the postoffice for Mike, bought lunch from Cromarty Bakery and then back to the bus stop where I took this photo. I loved the light, the lamppost ,the shape of the apple tree and the apples on the floor.
A nice journey back along the Firth leaving behind a brilliant rainbow above the oil rigs.
