Indian traditions
Today we got to dress up in an Indian traditional dress called a sahri. It's basically a long piece of material that you wrap around yourself and you wear it with a crop top. We rode elephants in our sahris as well. These elephants are bigger than the Thai elephants. We also got to eat a traditional meal with, of course, a wide range of curry dishes, Indian bread, and an Indian dessert that is basically like donut holes in syrup. Later that night we went to a festival where as soon as we walked in we got a dot on our forehead. We had an even more traditional meal where I didn't know most of what I was eating. We sat on the floor and the cups and plates and bowls were made of a leaf material. After that we walked around and there was traditional music with a bunch of drumming. Of course there were dancers, magicians, and shop keepers. The most exciting thing was that there was free henna there! I got so much henna on me. And the ladies were laughing at our group because the guys were getting henna and henna is only for girls.
