At Birdlings Flat

We have had a wonderful afternoon being tourists in this lovely part of Christchurch.  First we went to the Rail Trail at Motukarara where there was an old railway station with wagon on the tracks.  Then we drove on to Kaituna and walked along part of the rail trail.  By then we were getting a bit hungry, so headed on down the road to Little River, where we had our lunch.  On the way back to Greenpark we stopped in at Birdlings Flat where I took this photo.  Summer has arrived at this beautiful spot.

The morning was pretty stressful, as I booked the bus back to Wanaka for 11p.m. riding through the night and arriving at 6 a.m.  It took a couple of hours to sort out my mistake.   Grrr!!  So now we are are leaving Chch at 10.30 a.m. on Monday, which is a much better time to travel.  I won't be making that mistake again.
