A Horn from France
Well, it's not really from France. This beautiful French Horn is called "French" because at one time most hunting horns in this familiar circular shape were made in France.
As I may have explained in a previous blip post, for the past several months I have been working on Mozart's Quintet in Eb for piano and wind ensemble.Tonight we had our last rehearsal for 2015. I have been enjoying this immensely and we are incredibly fortunate to have Jane A. on French Horn. Jane is a noted French Hornist and recently retired professor of music from the University of Alaska in Fairbanks. Her expertise with the quintet has been invaluable in helping us get through the tough spots and in pushing us (relentlessly) to pick up the tempo.
We'll enjoy a brief respite during the holidays, then resume again in mid-January. We hope to be ready and able to perform at a house concert (probably at my house) by the end of January.
