Founding Father

Traverse City's Founding father, Perry Hannah, is on display near the downtown area with this likeness in a bronze statue. I love how someone gave him the warmth of a red scarf on this chilly day and, even better, the warmth of the season with pine cones and a cardinal in his hand.

When I lived in Seattle it was customary to visit the 'Fremont People' (actually titled 'Waiting for the Interurban") cast aluminum statue to see how these six people were dressed. My favorite was when they were dressed for a birthday party complete with party hats.

I look forward to seeing if our Perry Hannah statue continues to be seasonally appropriate!
