Indian Bazaar in West Malling

Today we visited an amazing Bazaar in the chapel of the Pilsdon Community at West Malling in Kent. "Bazaar" work with crafts people in India and Nepal and the exhibition/sale was raising funds to help the knitters in Bhaktapur who have lost their homes in the recent earthquake that hit Nepal.
The colours of the fabrics that draped from the high rafters of the chapel were stunning. Unfortunately my Samsung Galaxy mobile failed in it's efforts - and my shots do not do the scene justice.
Here is a bit about the Pilsdon Community reproduced from  their website:
"There has been an Abbey in West Malling for nearly 1,000 years, and part of the original building still stands. Many changes have taken place over the centuries and the present St Mary's Abbey has been the home of Benedictine Sisters since 1916. Cistercian Monks leased the adjacent Ewell Monastery, owned by the Abbey, in 1966. When Fr Aelred & Br Tim decided to retire from the Cistercian life after Easter 2004, the Sisters invited Pilsdon to establish their second community at the former Ewell Monastery. We seek to provide an environment where people can rebuild their lives after experiencing a crisis, whether sudden or progressive, and offer a safe home for those working through depression, alcoholism, addiction, divorce or bereavement."

What a nicer way to spend a Saturday than competing with the crowds of last minute Christmas shoppers in the shopping malls.
