Mail wanted
You nip out for a paper and on your return discover the postman has been and couldn't deliver a parcel because it's too big to fit through the letterbox, so now you have to drive into town the next day and pick it up from the depot. Judging by the constant stream of people in and out of the place it seems to happen quite a lot, particularly at this time of year. It's all this ordering online that's the problem. Whatever happened to wandering the streets looking in desperation for that perfect gift and ending up buying a kitchen utensil or similar because what you really wanted is out of stock.
If I can remember that far back I'm sure there was a children's game called 'knock knock' where you rang the doorbell or knocked on someone's front door then ran away before the occupant opened the door leaving them bemused and somewhat pissed off. It's nice to see that tradition still being carried out by Parcelforce and the Royal Mail..
