The village bier

Not a cheery thought, but this is the village bier for carrying coffins from the funeral service to the waiting hearse. Funerals are still very traditional here, with 4-5 men on each side, passing the bier hand-to-hand while walking in procession. It can be a very impressive and awesome spectacle to see a big funeral of someone in the community who is particularly respected.
