Photography Straight Up

This is a shot in the entrance area of the Museum of the City of New York--a cumbersome name for a wonderful museum.  The elaborate light installation with its myriad tiny bulbs sets off the elaborate staircase, with its its extensive couch. It obviously attracted the photographer, in his prone position at the bottom of the frame. 

There were several exhibitions; two especially interested me:   First, "Folk City: New York and the Folk Music Revival"  focused on the blossoming of folk music in the 1950s and 1960s, especially in Greenwich Village. The other show told the story of the journalist and photographer Jacob Riis  (1849-1914), who worked for social reform in New York  around the turn of the 20th century,
