...in Cairo -- obviously. I was part of a Boeing sales team visiting Egyptair. I had planned to break my return journey to Seattle in London, and visit my parents and sister in Wales.
I was asked to stay in Cairo until December 23, in case the airline needed additional information urgently -- this was before the ease of internet communication. We negotiated an arrangement whereby I took a couple of days off for my family visit, and then returned to Cairo. Boeing paid for the flight to London and back.
I came back to Seattle on the 23rd as planned, on Pan Am flight 123 -- two days after PA Flight 103 from Frankfurt to New York was blown out of the sky over Locherbie, Scotland.
