Whenever I am waiting for a bus at the top of The Mound, it strikes me that the Edinburgh residents who walked past might have been rather taken aback at the thought of living quite so far up as the top flat here.

Just think of hoicking a bag of coal, or your messages, or your bairns, or all three,up those stairs.
