Triple Yellow Lines
We got to bed about midnight after a night out with friends. My mate, John, seems even busier in retirement doing a few jobs; on the Police Memorial Trust (liasing with the wife of the late Michael Winner), a continental tour guide, and doing police retirement seminars across the UK. By comparison, I'm idle! I woke about 5am, probably the result of too many beers, and couldn't get back to sleep. I was on the road by 10.30am on a call out and the roads were heaving. They seem to clear as the day went on and extremely quiet this evening.
The Blip photo is taken at Cardiff Bay Barrage. I've done one at this location before, during the day, and am pleased to see that the triple yellow lines have come out nicely in the dark.
Cardiff Bay Barrage lies across the mouth of Cardiff Bay, Wales between Queen Alexandra Dock and Penarth Head. It was one of the largest civil engineering projects in Europe during construction in the 1990s.
The Cardiff Bay Arts Trust (CBAT), now known as Safle, commissioned Swiss artist Felice Varini to produce piece of public art for the CHA, entitled 3 Ellipses for 3 Locks. It cost £25,000 and was produced between 11 and 25 March 2007. Three yellow ellipses were painted onto locks and gates, with professional mountain climbers being used to access the barrage's more difficult sections. It was Varini's first work in Wales and the UK and took a year to plan.
