A Tranche Of Fruit Not Finance
My daughter introduced us to the tranche when she was studying A level cookery. Back then in England these oblong fruit tarts tended to be decorated with tinned fruit. It's much easier to get exotic fruit out of season now. I've filled mine with crème légère like Richard Bertinet does.
I think it was in the 90s that I first noticed the term tranche being used in relation to finance and business. The word means a slice or a portion. In the financial sense of the word, each bond is a different slice of the deal's risk.
