Around the World and Back

Clouds Over Hong Kong

And so the East Coast Dash is behind me, and I'm finally, happily back on Blip, slowly organizing and documenting all the events and fun from the past three weeks, which are now firmly fixed in my mind, my heart - and my camera.

My hope is that you'll share the journey of the last month with me by heading back and visiting my journal entries for the days I've been away - no earth shattering revelations to impart, just a daily diary of photos that help me firmly secure the memories and remember the good times we had - sometimes life goes by so quickly, I rely upon the camera to help me appreciate where we've been!

I'm calling the journal entries from my trip this month "The East Coast Dash Diaries" and will be entering them a couple of days at a time, even while keeping up with today's events back here in Hong Kong and China. Today's Dash Diary entries are:

June 6 - Dash Day 1, Travel Day
June 7 - Dash Day 2, Nats vs Mets

Today's Blip was taken out of the plane window as we were on approach into Hong Kong. The captain came on and told us all to take our seats and buckle up (including the flight attendants), because the ride was going to get a little bumpy. I usually have a seat on the aisle, but today I was fortunate to have a seat by the window - turbulence notwithstanding, the view tonight was rare and magical, a glimpse into the heavens that suddenly makes all the time spent miles above the earth feel totally worthwhile.

Although we endure endless cloudy days over here on the harbor, after tonight I'll never look at the clouds hanging over Hong Kong in the same way. Just out of sight, high above the turbulent skies, hangs a magical sun in a glowing sky waiting patiently for the storm to pass, the clouds to clear, and the precise moment to break through with the true splendor of what lies just above the clouds over Hong Kong.
