a little bit of rhubarb

Today I wanted to find an image that was vibrant and colourful and cheerful.

Even Blind Freddie will be able to tell you that this is not even remotely that image. T'was not meant to be, clearly. Topped off with a low morale day at the office...well, tomorrow is another day I guess.

However, I did learn one thing today:

Never ever think you can sneak up your dark deserted street and nip quickly and discreetly into the nearest thai takeaway wearing your pajamas that are half-concealed by a long coat over the top. (Hey, it's the middle of the week, it's cold, and it's wet, nobody with half a brain is going to be out and about, after all).

Because you're not fooling anybody, much less the thousands of males who are worshipping at the shrine of the State of Origin footy final in the corner pub. (The same devotees who, as I type, I can hear drunkenly and boisterously singing from the aforesaid pub, which tends to indicate that someone from the New South Wales team has managed to gallop down a paddock clutching a ball and kicked it in the right direction.)

I think there's something in that for all of us, don't you?

Morning After Postscript: Queensland won again - what's that, 7 years in a row?
