Christmas morning on Millennium Bridge

Last year on Christmas Day, Tim suggested that next year (ie, today) we should drive up into London early on Christmas morning and get some photos of the empty streets.  He is such a good husband!  We duly set the alarm for 6am (that is dedication!) and set out in the car just as the sun was coming up - but the roads were surprisingly busy.  Traffic was light enough that it was a really easy drive in, but still heavy enough that there was no chance of stopping and getting any empty road shots as I'd hoped.

No matter though, because before giving up we parked up behind the Tate Modern and decided to check out the river and Millennium Bridge.  There were a few runners out (nutters), and a couple of other photographers with the same idea, but other than that it was so quiet - and the river was so still and peaceful.  The tide was really low and there was zero river traffic - I've never seen it so millpond-like!

Got a few shots and headed back for 'second breakfast' (there's a tradition I could adopt!  See the extra photos below), then opened our presents.  Got some fab things - including a portable hard drive and a flash gun, as well as several sewing bits and pieces - and Tim was really pleased with the phone I'd bought him  :)

Cooked dinner at a leisurely pace and ate around 2pm, watched some Christmas telly and settled in on the sofa for the rest of the day :)
