New Dress?

The dress this model is wearing was made from a parachute during the Second World War, made for a lady from our village by her mother. Beautifully sewn and preserved, it looks as if it was made from expensive silk.
This was an exhibit for the Wartime Memories evening which was held today. Eight local residents gave a short talk on their memories, which were interesting and often very amusing! Rock cakes and sponge cakes (no butter) were served during the interval, and the village hall was decked with recycled Jubilee bunting. There was a wonderful display of photographs, ration books and newspapers from the time.
A very successful evening which attracted almost 100 people.
