Camellia A La Monet

I found this Camellia on Christmas Eve hidden away among some brambles, and I plucked it out of its secret blooming to bring it home. All that day I was baking bread for the family festivities the following day. Also wrapping gifts in the moments when the dough was rising... I have a large family, and always give calendars as part of my Christmas gifting. This year I was somewhat limited, not being able to drive beyond Ocean Springs because of my leg pain, so I ended up doing all my shopping in one little store, which happened to have a limited selection of calendars as well as some surprisingly special treasures for my immediate family. I had a lovely time, and among the calendars I brought home was one of Monet's garden. As I took it out to wrap it for my son, Vanja, who loves Monet, I had a little inspiration. Why not place my humble Camellia among the spectacular blooms portrayed by Monet and photograph the result.

It was a small spirit-lifting break from all the laborious tasks I had set for myself, and though it might be clearer, it pleases me. So I share my moment of relief and pleasure with those blippers who just might see and enjoy. Happy Christmas!
