Summertime

Watermelon epitomizes summer to me. I grew up on a farm, and I remember my uncle bringing huge watermelons to the house from the farm. He would split them open right there on the back porch and my cousins and I would eat them warm from the sun. There were more seeds then; more opportunity for spitting. I bought this big one hoping there would be lots of seeds. It seems I'm a consumer contrarian. Most of the seeds seem to be bred out of even the biggest melons. It still tastes pretty good, but not quite as sweet and juicy as the ones I remember back on my grandmother's porch.
