ABP Compost Visit.

This big machine screens the compost down to 30 mm for horticultural and agricultural use were it must have a 21 day grazing ban for ruminants and 2 months for pigs. So the oversized bits are on left with 30 mm compost on the right.
Compost material at this unit consist of green waste, catering waste and former food factory category 3 waste. As you can see by the steam, a lot of heat is produced in the process. The high temperatures reached during the composting process ensures that all weed seeds, diseases and pathogens are destroyed. Our agricultural compost is peat free and acts as an excellent soil improver. Agricultural compost is ideal for adding substance to light land allowing better moisture retention and microbial activity. The addition of agricultural compost to heavy soils also helps to increase the workability of the soil and encourages earthworm and microbial activity.
