Abandoned Homesteads

In the foreground is a ringfort probably occupied in the early middle ages by a family of some importance in the locality. Superstition combined with a landscape that doesn't lend itself to big agriculture has ensured it's survival in the landscape. The farmstead in the distance was abandoned more recently when the farmer died, he had no children to pass the farm too.
