The sight and sound of the water rushing down the waterfall was awesome but fortunately I don’t think any buildings were at risk further downstream.  Now thousands of people are suffering the loss of their possessions and even homes and livelihoods, due to the dreadful floods which have troubled many parts of Britain this month and especially during the Christmas period.   Even though we helped a friend move possessions upstairs and saw the damage done when his house was flooded a few years ago, I can hardly imagine how devastating it must be to see the waters rising several feet deep in the house not once, but three times now.
