Squacco Heron(Ardeola ralloides)
A Squacco Heron puffing himself up so he looks more impressive! The Squacco Heron is Oman's resident Heron and second most common after the Western Reef Heron. What is unusual about this bird, is that his wings in flight are completely white and quite a surprise, as the rest of his feathers are pale golden brown with a stripy head and chest. This bird is often seen skulking around the fringes of a pond or lagoon, amongst the reeds and greenery, looking for frogs and insects and the occasional small fish. The extra today is the beautiful Dive Centre and the stunning coastline around Bandar Kahran.
