Scarlet caterpillar fungus
Its only a couple of months ago that I recorded cordyceps militaris - the scarlet caterpillar fungus - on the reserve for the first time. Since then I've found about a dozen more, including this one today. It grows on the underground pupae of moths then pushes up through the turf as a bright orange club. I'm tempted to dig one up to find the caterpillar.
