The Vue and the Cathedral

The ferris wheel first came to Leicester in November to mark Diwali in Belgrave, moving subsequently to Jubilee Square for the Christmas celebrations, the top of the Highcross monument being decapitated during the installation! The crane driver responsible was reported as being 'mortified.'

After shifting round the wheel to take photos from different viewpoints, I actually went on the wheel for a ride of three revolutions. Leicester did not look particularly lit up from the top. Even the decorations in High Street appeared muted. Since it was dark, there wasn't a great deal to see. Better to take the trip during daylight.

The ride was smooth in the glass fronted cubicles but I can imagine someone with a fear of heights feeling quite unwell.

It was only while I was processing the photo that I noticed that a ghoulish figure seemed to be perched on the spire. That's what shadows do for you.

Leicester City drew 0-0 with Manchester City. I caught the bus to Kat and George's house and waited out the evening with her until the chaps returned from the match.
