Flooding - Views From The Window

What a long, exhausting day we have had.

We woke at 6 a.m. and to our relief the road hadn't flooded. However, a different picture three hours later and the water had immersed the road and was creeping up the drive. The water continued to rise for another four hours and reached the highest that we have seen in a couple of years. The house was completely surrounded and the pagoda that you see in one of the photos was almost completely submerged. So bad that we had to open the red wine (that we were kindly given at Christmas) at 1.30p.m. By this time we could see that the water had levelled out and was beginning to recede. We had to cancel our Tesco delivery as the driver couldn't get through and we couldn't reach him by foot. A lovely call from the store to advise that our order would be cancelled and a full refund given.

The road is still under water but we have our garden back. Fingers crossed that we will make it through the next high tide.
