Memories of Eilean Donan

This time of year is full of them . Beginnings and endings and ever changing families .
This photo was taken about 7 years ago on our way to North Uist with J&N .
My grandmother's uncle Farqhuar MacRae was responsible for overseeing the rebuilding of the castle and devoted his life to the restoration . The intricate carvings on the stone and the interior woodwork were his own work and in our family we take pride in the great heritage he left us .
There are many stories of his fortitude and determination which our father passed on to us as children.
