Peaceless
This is the wall that forms the boarder between Jerusalem and Bethlehem.
We went here immediately after visiting Yad Vashem - the Holocaust Museum and Memorial - and talking with a Holocaust survivor. He mentioned that he started his life in war, being only 11 years old when he was out in a concentration camp, and now he will end his life in it.
All he wants is to see a single day of peace.
Seeing the wall between the Israel/ Palestine conflict made me extremely sad. Watching the workers having to traverse a checkpoint to get to their job seemed unnecessary; the cleaving of the two societies haunting.
But the fact remains that violence makes people fear for their security, and that fear breeds more fear itself. The complexities of putting these two parts back into a whole are almost incomprehensible.
Still, I hope one day that this region can be pieceless.
