Lighting the Way

Mum and I headed over to Gravesend for some bits and pieces for her new flat and out of sheer curiousity I took a road through some industrial land ripe for development down to the Thameside. Stopping briefly, I took a peek over a shoulder-high concrete barrier to see this view up the Thames across from Tilbury Ness. 

This unmanned lighthouse was placed in1883 by Trinity House to guide inward bound vessels safely around the bend from Gravesend Reach to Northfleet Hope on their way to the Port of London.
