Blipfuture rules!

I have just celebrated six years of blipping - why do I do it?  It's a very special place which brings people together from across the world and across cultures.  At a time when there appears to be much to divide us and worries about the health of the planet, in some way blip reassures me that people, be they in Scandinavia, Asia wherever, are people who generally care about the simple but important things.  Some of these people I will never meet but look forward to catching up with each day; others have become friends through blipmeets; several I plan to travel to visit in future; three I enjoy swapping postcards with.

On a personal level, carrying my camera with me each day has opened my eyes to the very smallest of things to big pictures and important events.  In addition to lots of great blipmeets, Blip has encouraged me to improve my camera skills and this year I will be spending a week in the Lake District on a photographic holiday and a day blipping birds of prey, both organised by blippers.

My blip is not the best example of photography skills but it brings together my love of orienteering, being out on Ilkley Moor having fun with pals from our club and taking pictures.  Sadly you cannot see the detail of the list which Rick (and Lucy and Sandy and Henk and Tony) kindly agreed to pin to themselves - but it is a list of the people I regularly follow, those friends - some old, most new - that I have made through Blip

Blip gives me a glimpse of people's lives and allows me to share mine in a safe, supportive environment without any of the other rubbish which comes along with other social networking sites.  I have made my pledge to the folks at Blipfuture and I hope if you are still in two minds then today's blips will help you take the step on  https://www.blipfuture.com
