Gratitude

I was given a link yesterday to a site that is having a weekly art journal prompt.

I had been deliberating on whether or not to take part in the Documented Life Project 2016 as the format has changed and I wasn't loving the direction. The prompt for this week was 'Gratitude'. Yesterday evening I completed a black and white doodle in the small book that I keep beside my bed. As a border, I added an A to Z of things that I was grateful for in 2015.

This morning I decided to have a play on the same theme using a piece of card and the result is on the right o today's picture. My favourite things from my A to Z were written on a small note, with a quote that we were given with he prompt; "when you see the world through eyes of gratitude the world becomes a magical and amazing place'

Later today, I was looking at a page another person had created and their quote "gratitude turns what we have into enough" has inspired me to do a third page on this theme. I have for the last year been collecting litter, engaging with like minded people and pondering waste. I read an article earlier in the week by John Bird, founder of the Big Issue, about how "short term expediency can lead to vast problems for future generations and yesterday I had a new subscriber to my journal who is planning to reduce their spending this year. I to follow his progress on this site.

I am not happy with some of the pages from my 2015 journal, some are barely started and I had some pages that I never needed.

I am going to continue to use this journal and my card one instead of breaking open the new one I had stashed away. The left page is the beginning of my 3rd page, over las years 'what makes your heart sing'

It certainly is not giving, buying or receiving 'stuff' that I neither want or need.
