It looks like we made the most of the last two days as the persistent rain returned today. Lots of little jobs done - packing and planning for the trip up to Caingorm next weekend, ice axes & crampons sharpened, waterproof's re-proofed (seemed wise lol) , every pair of gloves I own in the bag! - hopefully we'll get high enough for rain to become snow.

Then a trip across the Howgills to catch up with a friend - on auto-pilot I took the old coach road across from Tebay - only to turn back a couple of miles after here - another road washed away - and I'd guess one this remote won't be high up the priority list - a long trip round for the few farmhouses along it.
