Mono Monday - Beginnings
After a lazy Sunday we did go for a walk today. I would like to say it is the beginnings of a fitness program but that would be a lie. We walked the beginning of the track to Lake Tarawera. It starts just before Te Wairoa/The Buried Village from the eruption of Mt Tarawera in 1886. We were walking under tree ferns or Ponga we call them. They are a colonizing species after the eruption or the beginnings of a new forest. In time they will be replaced by hard wood trees. The unfurling fronds represent new beginnings in Maori culture.
Thank you Osuzanna for hosting Mono Monday.
